Many people see the movie Avatar as a dig at White European Colonialism, but it isn't. Not if you are of a mind to learn and understand the real message.
Unfortunately, many religious and spiritual leaders lead people down the exploitive road of fear, telling us (no matter one's race or religion), "You are not in Kansas anymore. Out there beyond that fence, every living thing that crawls, flies or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat your eyes for jujubes."
That type of thinking epitomizes the exploitive road of fear, a road anyone anywhere may take. Have you ever heard your religious or spiritual leaders move you toward the exploitive road of fear?
Every single one of us is responsible for his or her own fear-driven emotional issues, no less than everyone else. All of us have suffered in one way or another. No one gets (or should get) a free pass to use suffering to extort material benefits from everyone else. If one tries to or does claim those benefits, that action red flags the internalization of exploitive fear-driven thinking.
