CAT'S EYE CHRYSOBERYL Tumbled Gemstone

$10.95

Prized for their beauty, hardness, and durability, CAT'S EYE CHRYSOBERYL is known as Cymophane (derived from the Greek words cyma and phanes, meaning “wave” and “appearance”). Inside the stone microscopic needle-like inclusions reflect a streak of light known as the cat's eye. The cat's eye’s inclusions are aligned in parallel to the crystallographic axis. Cut as cabochons with the fibrous need-like inclusions running across the narrow part of the stone displays the effect properly, which is most clearly apparent under a spotlight or direct sunlight. A thin bright band of light will appear and open and close as the stone is rotated. This phenomenon is also known as chatoyancy.

Shown are representative stones from this lot of CAT'S EYE CHRYSOBERYL. Stones are medium, vary in size.

This listing is for one polished CAT'S EYE CHRYSOBERYL specimen.

Comes beautifully packaged in a jewelry pouch.
