European A+ Blood Group

© Lori Lappin, the Witch of WITCHCRAFTS ARTISAN ALCHEMY®

I have A+ blood. This is the blood group most people of Northern and Central European ancestry have. These are the results from the home blood test I did on myself. The card is a bit messy now in the photo, but still clear to see.

Who are your Blood Types' Ancestors?

Rh Negative Blood in Ethnic Groups - No Virginia, Rh- blood is not from aliens:

"The Rh in Rh factor stands for rhesus, so named because the Rh factor is an antigen that was first discovered in the blood of rhesus monkeys. The Rh antigen is called D, and is encoded by a gene called the RHD gene. Because humans are primates, many of our genes are the same or similar to those of other primates, and the RHD gene produces the same antigen in both humans and rhesus monkeys. Most people produce the D antigen, but a few people are missing functional copies of the RHD gene, and they produce no D antigen. These are the people who have Rh negative blood types, and the non- functional version (allele) of the RHD gene is called the RHD silent allele."

Great Ape (Hominidae) Blood Groups - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

A - Bonobos, Chimpanzees, Orangutans, Homo sapiens, Cro-Magnons

B - Baboons, Gorillas, Orangutans, Homo sapiens

AB - Baboons, Orangutans, Homo sapiens

O - Chimpanzees, Orangutans, Homo sapiens, Neanderthals

So, on a purely having fun note, (excluding orangutans since we all share that blood connection) we can say that:

A people blood - bonobos touched with chimpanzee
B people blood - gorillas touched with baboon
AB people blood - baboons all the way!
O people blood - chimpanzees all the way!

Go Hominindae!
