The longest single block of my active-X-Chromosome DNA which matches to one of my genetic "cousins" (with an ancestral surname known to me by family tradition) matches to a genetic cousin sharing with me the Faulkner ancestral surname.

My Faulkner family line has been in America since the 1600's, from an origin in Wales. The Faulkner clan arrived in America (Maryland) 22 January 1665 on the ship Agreement, setting out from Bristol. Their passage was paid for with 300 pounds of tobacco.

This family consisted of John Faulkner (son of William Faulkner "citizen & draper of London" and Elizabeth Filmer, daughter of Sir Edward Filmer & Dame Elizabeth Argall) and Elizabeth (daughter of Reginald Filmer & Jane Travis), and their children John, Thomas & Francis.

Members of the Faulkner line served in the American Revolution. Continuous documentation for this lineage currently exists back until 1625 CE. Most of this line identifies with Freemasonry. There are several gentlemen named "Hiram" among male members of this ancestral lineage.

Through this ancestral family lineage, I am related to William Faulkner, an American writer and Nobel Prize laureate (1949, Literature).
