People in my maternal haplogroup (Hg) U mitochondrial genetic (mtDNA) motherline tend to have a high pH brain which is associated with also having high IQ (Intelligence Quotient). This is true for people with K genetic motherlines as well. Both U and K are considered genetic motherlines indigenous to Europe. K is a daughter group of U - indeed, K (also known as U8) is a group within U (where U contains 9 major daughter groups, namely U1 through U9). U (especially my own group, U5) concentrates in people having Northern European ancestry. K (U8) concentrates in people having Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry.
"Rollins et al. (2009) examined the association between brain pH and mtDNA alleles. The highest brain pH was found in members of haplogroups U and K. Higher pH confers protection against Parkinson's disease and psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder. Another study by the University of Manchester suggests that a lower brain acidity (i.e. higher pH) has a protective effect against strokes. Research on intelligence point that people with higher IQ tend to have more alkaline brains. Higher pH is associated with better conductivity-transmission between neurons."
New research into mitochondrial trafficking and anchoring in neurons has shown that "mitochondria are essential organelles for neuronal growth, survival, and function. Neurons use specialized mechanisms to drive mitochondria transport and to anchor them in axons and at synapses. Stationary mitochondria buffer intracellular Ca2+ and serve as a local energy source by supplying ATP. The balance between motile and stationary mitochondria responds quickly to changes in axonal and synaptic physiology. Defects in mitochondrial transport are implicated in the pathogenesis of several major neurological disorders. Recent work has provided new insight in the regulation of microtubule-based mitochondrial trafficking and anchoring, and on how mitochondrial motility influences neuron growth, synaptic function, and mitophagy."
To briefly reiterate, scientific genetic studies have informed us that maternal genetic haplogroup (Hg) motherlines U and K are associated with higher brain pH and higher intelligence (relative to other maternal mitchondrial-DNA haplogroups), where both high brain pH and high intelligence correlate with better mitochondrial mediated conductivity-transmission between neurons. Science also tells us that Hgs U and K concentrate heavily in people having Northern European (U) and Ashkenazi Jewish (K) ancestry.
Ethnic traditions and my own personal experience as a daughter of Clan U can give us some insight on this genetic motherline mediated intelligence as well ... on intelligent U and K women who remember the first on earth:
I personally belong to Northern European U (U5, more specifically). As a member of U, like the witch-seeress Heidr of Northern European Tradition, I too am "she who remembers the first on earth" - experiencing pre-incarnate consciousness and even carrying remembrance of this pre-incarnate experience into incarnate existence (through possessing the ability to biologically upload the information experienced by pure pre-incarnate consciousness into the body). In other writings, I have attributed this epic memory of eternal consciousness to my Northern European and Cro-Magnon ancestry. Now, I am hypothesizing that my eternal consciousness and the incarnate remembrance of it are linked specifically to my genetic ancestral motherline U (an Old European Cro-Magnon maternal lineage) and that this biological ability tied to 'remembering' that I have inherited is mediated by mitochondrial DNA.
If my hypothesis is true, and since K is a daughter group of U, I have to ask the question - is there any evidence of a Heidr-like female seeress in Jewish Tradition? The answer to that question is "yes" there is such a woman - and her name is Serach.
Both Heidr and Serach are guardians of communal memory. The superhaplogroup U (U1-U9) and at least two of its daughter groups, namely U5 (my own group) and U8 (K), are known and recognized within our Ancestral Tradtions to be genetic guardians of communal memory.
Hg U is around 55,000 years old. Hg K descended from Hg U around 12,000 years ago. Given that native traditions of both U and K contain stories of an extraordinary woman 'who remembers the first on earth', then this biological ability 'to remember' (to biologically upload nonlinear pre-incarnate experiential information) may have arose within the ancestral genetic motherline most likely before U became differentiated into daughter groups U1 through U9 - roughly between 13,000 to 55,000 years ago.
